3rd SJU trophy culminates

SJU Vice-Chancellor Dr D Gnanadurai presents the St. Joseph University Trophy Cup to the champions, St. Joseph College (Autonomous), Jakhama, during the valedictory ceremony of the tournament.

Chumoukedima, October 11 (MExN): The third edition of the St. Joseph University Trophy, an inter-college and university tournament, concluded on October 9. Hosted by St. Joseph University, Chumoukedima, the tournament took place from October 7 to 9, featuring participation from 24 institutions across the region.

The tournament included competitions in basketball and volleyball for both men and women, along with men’s football. In the basketball event for men, Don Bosco College, Kohima, secured first place, while St. Joseph University, Chumoukedima, came in second. In the women’s basketball category, St. Joseph College (Autonomous), Jakhama, claimed the top spot, followed by St. Joseph University.

In the volleyball events, St. Joseph University triumphed in the men’s category, taking first place, with St. Joseph College (Autonomous), Jakhama, finishing second. In women’s volleyball, Don Bosco College, Kohima, emerged as the winner, while Dimapur Government College secured second place. For men’s football, Dimapur Government College clinched first place, followed by St. Joseph College (Autonomous), Jakhama.

St. Joseph College (Autonomous), Jakhama, was declared the overall champion of the tournament. During the valedictory ceremony, Vice-Chancellor Dr. D. Gnanadurai presented the prestigious St. Joseph University Trophy Cup to the champions, highlighting their outstanding performance throughout the tournament.

The organizing committee expressed gratitude to the sponsors, including the Commandant of Assam Rifle Training Center, Development Association of Nagaland, Insight NPSC Coaching Centre, Betty’s Flora, Mahindra’s Coaching Centre, and several other local businesses and individuals for their support in making the event a success.
