Addressing the closing ceremony as the special guest, the Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Sharingain Longkumer described the NPM not just as a biennial Police calendar event, but as a testament to the strength and spirit of the State Police.

Nagaland Police stands strong with a rich legacy, serving as the most visible and powerful arm of the State Government, he said, while emphasising the need to tackle the twin challenges of Cyber Crime and Online Financial Frauds.

Describing these as the biggest challenges facing the Nagaland Police, he called for focused efforts on institutional and capacity building, particularly in strengthening both infrastructure and human resources, to effectively address these issues.

Longkumer also noted that events such as the NPM reflect the humane side of policing, both professionally and personally, and would serve as a symbol of the unwavering commitment of the police, achieved through the three C’s – Communication, Coordination and Courtesy. He also lauded the Organising Committee for the successful conduct of the Meet.

Also speaking on the occasion, Director General of Police (DGP) Nagaland, Rupin Sharma, highlighted that the NPM has a long legacy, starting from the year 1967, and has served as a platform to identify outstanding sportsmen.

Organising such a momentous event requires significant financial investment, and for the 2024 edition of the NPM, he expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister of Nagaland for granting Rs 50 lakh. He also thanked corporate sponsors, the Bank of Baroda and the Indian Oil Corporation, for contributing Rs 10 lakh each.

For the first time, certified referees trained from amongst the police personnel were utilised to adjudicate in the football and boxing competitions, Sharma informed. He also described the absence of major injuries or mishaps throughout the event as a reflection of the overall fitness of the Nagaland Police.

The Assistant Organising Secretary of the NPM 2024, Ben Longkumer, also submitted the report of the event at the closing ceremony. Trophies and medals were handed over to the various teams for Games, Discipline, and Duty Items, according to a press release from the organisers.
