43rd general conference of AKTM concludes

 The 43rd general conference of the Asetkong Kaketshir Telongjem Mungdang (AKTM) which commenced on January 10 at Mopungchuket village, Mokokchung concluded on January 12.

The inaugural programme was held with Er Lobosang Jamir, Superintending Engineer, Department of Power, Nagaland as the inaugural guest and Rev Dr Mar Pongener, Executive Secretary, ABAM Impur as the main speaker. An extempore speech competition was held on the same day which was led by Supongasang Jamir.

The second day of the conference was exclusively focused on retrospection of culture which was called the ‘Lipok Penzü Anogo.’ The significance of the day was given by Guru S Pangyang Ozukum, President, Asetkong Union. Nungdokyanger Ao, President, Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (AKM) also gave a brief exhortation at the cultural carnival.

The cultural day witnessed a variety of cultural road shows from all of the units under AKTM such as indigenous folk songs, pulling of a traditional log drum, playing drumheads with felt-tipped mallets or wooden sticks, and cultural folk dance. The day was also marked by a cultural competition on various cultural activities conducted at Süngko Tenem Park, Mopungchuket village. 

The final day of the conference saw three sessions. The first session was the exhibition of traditional folk songs by the various units while the second session was the closing programme of the event where various reports were presented and new office bearers for 2023-2026 were elected. 

The newly elected office bearers for 2023-2026 are President: Kajenkaba of Sungratsü village, Vice-president: Yarsen Jamir of Mopungchuket village, General Secretary: Aotsunger of Longjang village, Asst. General Secretary: Opangkokla Aier of Longpa village.

The conference concluded extravagantly with a session of music and entertainment performed by various artists the evening.
