DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 30 (MExN): Forty four human rights and indigenous rights organizations from across the world today issued an open letter to the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi urging him  "not withdraw from the negotiation as well as look beyond the signing of an agreement that is not grounded on political consent and will of the Naga People.".

The letter called for a settlement grounded on democratic values and principles “so peace may become a reality under your leadership for the benefit of all.” It meanwhile expressed concern regarding the recent development on the Indo-Naga peace talks, while stressing that “durable peace is reached only when utmost political effort, along with equal participation is made by all parties concerned.” “Such efforts must include vigorous consultations with and participation of civil society of both India and the Nagas to generate social and political transformation and peaceful co-existence,” it added.
