Phek, January 14 (MExN): Under the theme ‘Defend Till the End,’ the Phek Wrestling Association (PWA) is all set to organized its 45th Senior and 2nd Under 16 wrestling tournament cum Sükrenye festival on January 15 at Phek village local ground. The ground management is taken care by the Phek Sports Association (PWA)
According to PWA President Thuputhiyi Venuh, Kuzholuzo Nienu, MLA, will grace the tournament as inaugural guest while Heipeiding Ilunglang, BDO, Phek Block will be the valedictory guest.
The best 4 wrestlers in the senior category will walk away with cash prizes of Rs 30,000, Rs 20,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 with citation while the best 4 wrestlers in under 16 years category will receive cash prizes of Rs 11, 000, Rs 8,000, Rs 6,000 and Rs 4,000 with citations.
In order to carry out the tournament smoothly, a clinical cum sensitization camp was held on January 14 at the local ground with all the management officials and PWA executive council where Nagaland Wrestling Referee Board (NWRB) Convenor gave a clinical and sensitization presentation. The PWA in its business session unanimously decided to uphold all health protocol measures provided in the Government SOPs and urged all wrestlers to be role models by engaging themselves in creating awareness in the community.
The house further resolved to carry out all activities of the tournament under the banner ‘Wrestle against COVID-19.’
