The annual board exams held under the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) will kick off from March 8 with thousands of students in the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) exams appearing for their first paper.

Students of Class X (Higher School Leaving Certificate) are also scheduled to sit for their first paper beginning March 9.

A total of 47,426 students in Nagaland will be taking the HSLC and HSSLC examinations, according to an update by the Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Twitter.

Wishing the students on the eve of their exams, Rio stated, “I encourage you all to study hard, stay focused, be confident and give your best. May God bless you with good health and enable you to do well.”

The State Government had earlier issued the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the examinations stipulating that the number of examinees or candidates in a room or hall at any examination centre should not exceed more than 50% of the total capacity.

Again on March 3, the NBSE in a notification also informed that a candidate, who could not appear the examination in a subject or some subject(s) on being tested COVID-19 positive, would be allowed to reappear the examination.

For HSLC examination, the application should be submitted within March 29 and for HSSLC examination, the application should be submitted within April 6, it then notified, adding that the examination dates and centre for these candidates will be notified at a later date and no fees shall be realised from them.

According to the Board, it was “one-time measure to ensure that the candidates are not deprived of appearing in the HSLC and HSSLC Examination 2022.”
