4th Kohima District Chess Championship 2024 concludes

The 4th Kohima District Chess Championship 2024 under the aegis of Kohima District Chess Association (KDCA) concluded today at Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) Complex, Kohima.

In Open Category, Kevilekho Zumvu emerged the coveted champion title and received as cash prize of Rs 20,000, sponsored by Nagaland Chess Association. Khrielie Sano stood 1st runner-up and awarded with Rs 15,000, sponsored by Vitseizolie Soriinuo. 2nd Runner up Viseyie Yano received Rs 10,000, sponsored by Medovilie Meru.

Rank 4 to 10 position holders, Melesayi Dawhuo, Vimhazo Tsukru, Seyiekhrietuo Mere, Akhrietuo Kesiyie, Ravolie Kets, Kedihoto Puro and Muzaveto Phesao received Rs 1000 each, sponsored by Vikholie Kire.

Vesho Doulo bagged the champion title in Under 16 years category and awarded with Rs 7000, sponsored by Neichute Doulo. 1st Runner-up Mereh Doulo received Rs 5000, sponsored by Lineage Enterprise. 2nd Runner-up Neipedezo Metha got R. 3000, sponsored by Razoukhrietuo Yano.

In veteran category, Sede Nagi bagged the champion title and received Rs 7000, sponsored by Sede Nagi. 1st Runner-up Sukhavi Achumi received Rs 5000, sponsored by Akhrietuo Pesochii. K. Sekhamo stood 2nd Runner- up and received Rs 3000, sponsored by Atuo Mere.

KDCA Advisor Roko Angami, who is also OSD (Sports), Department of Youth Resources & Sports, Govt of Nagaland gave away prize to the winners.

Altogether, 35 players participated in the championship. Six years Seluokuo Rume and 68 years K. Sekhamo were the youngest and oldest player respectively.

The award ceremony was chaired by Vimhazo Tsiikrii while vote of thanks was proposed by KDCA Vice President Seyiekhrietuo Mere.
