Wokha, October 3 (MExN): Deputy Chief Minister & Minister In-Charge for Home Government of Nagaland, Y Patton graced the inaugural function of the three-days 4th edition of Lt Bishop Abraham Memorial Volleyball Tournament at St Paul’s Parish Wokha on October 3. 

The tournament is organised by Nagaland Catholic Youth Movement (NCYM) and hosted by St Paul’s Parish Wokha. A total of 12 teams from 12 districts from across the state are participating in the tournament. 

A press release from the Dy CM Media cell stated that addressing the gathering, Y Patton said that as it is evident from the track record of Lt Bishop Abraham who lived on earth from 1933 from 1977 that he spent his entire life span in the service of God and his faithful people at different capacities all over the country in including Nagaland during his lifetime. 

 “Ever since the establishment of catholic churches in the state of Nagaland, it has paid sufficient attention to its social obligation to remove illiteracy and It has contributed much to the overall socio-economic development through its services of education, health care and social commitment thereby contributed significantly towards social transformation besides the works for spiritual nourishment,” he added. 

Rev Fr Dr CS Francis, Principal St Xavier College, Jalukie, appraising the gathering about Bishop Abraham said, “his gathering is a manifestation of a vision and mission planted and nurtured by him since 1973 and spreading deeper and wider through today. “
During the programme, 16 catholic youth achievers who recently cleared and got appointment in different departments through NPSC were felicitated.
