
Kohima, May 8 (MExN): The Kohima Police on May 6 arrested five individuals in connection with a robbery and theft case reported from Nerhe Model Village, leading to the recovery of stolen vehicle parts and the uncovering of a wider network of criminal activities.
The arrests were made by Chiephobozou Police Station following an investigation into a complaint lodged on March 12, regarding theft of a car engine and gear box from a local garage in Nerhe Model Village.
A press release by the Superintendent of Police, Kohima identified the accused as Petekhrietuo (22), Ruokuozhalie (24), Neizasetuo (26), Raj (25), and Throngpise (25).
“Preliminary inquiries revealed that the suspects were not only involved in the theft of the car engine and gear box but also in housebreaking cases within the jurisdiction of Chiephobozou PS,” the release stated.
It noted that the accused were involved in stealing iron materials from houses and selling them to scrap dealers.
The suspects have also been linked to theft cases reported around Jalukie, suggesting a broader pattern of criminal activity across district lines.
