53rd ASA Games & Sports Meet 2025 commences in Kohima

Kohima | February 6 

The 53rd Games & Sports Meet 2025 of the Angami Sports Association (ASA) got underway here today at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.

In this two day long meet, ASA units-Southern Angami Sports Association (SASA), Northern Angami Sports Association (NASA), Western Angami Youth Organization (WAYO) and Chakhroma Youth Organization (CYO) will compete for top honours in football, volleyball and Sepaktakraw for both men and women categories.

Gracing the opening ceremony as the special guest, Kohima deputy commissioner Kumar Ramnikant commended ASA for its remarkable contribution in nurturing the young talent and taking sports forward over the years.

Stating that the sports ecosystem is constantly changing, he expressed happiness that the youngsters are now coming forward and taking sports as a full-time occupation for fame and livelihood.

He challenged the sportspersons to have the vision and determination to excel at the national and international stage.

ASA president Ruokuovikho Chale said that ASA is not just a platform of games and sports but a group of brotherhood and a movement with much endurance and respect.

Apart from promoting sports, Chale said that ASA meet promote friendship and strengthen unity amongst the Angami community.

Chale was hopeful that the sportspersons will play with the true spirit of friendship in this 53rd meet and promote professionalism.

Together, let us play and celebrate physical health and strive for excellence, he added.

The inaugural function was chaired by ASA vice president (Admn) Neisavotuo Whuorie while Ruokuovinuo
Noudi, director Angami Baptist Thenuko Krotho invoked God’s blessings.

Ketobu Vitsu (Finance Secretary, ASA) and Ketouneino Nagi (Women Coordinator, ASA) compered day 1 event. Special number was presented by Seyiekole Bio & Co.

ASA games secretary Thepfuzho-o Viswentso administered oath to the participating teams.

Nagaland’s youth resources & sports director Kethosituo Sekhose, Nagaland Wrestling Association president Vivolie Kezo and Roko Angami, OSD (Sports) for Youth Resources & Sports department including several other dignitaries also present at the inaugural ceremony.

The prize sponsorers for this 53rd ASA meet includes; K. Vie Uniforms, Kohima, Dimapur Milk Union
Limited (DIMUL), Nagaland State Cooperative Bank, Sovima Village Council, Avi Kenguriise, secretary CEB NDPP Nagaland, N. Square Sports Enterprise, Kohima and Vineits Bakery Kigwema.

The patrons includes Neingutoulie Kenguriise, councillor Dimapur Municipal Council, Lhousito Khro, chairman Chumoukedima Town Council, Abei Thepa, chairman Medziphema Town Council, Neiketouzo Kenguriise, vice president Tenyimia People’s Organization, Viketouzo Meyase, vice president Nagaland Wrestling Association, Seyiekielhou Kuotsu, PA to Chief Minister Nagaland, Khriekethozo Lhoungu, Assistant Director, Department for School Education, Khriezovo Ziitso, Assistant Commandant CRPF, Kelhousenuo Khruomo, councillor Kohima Municipal Council, Thenouso Yhome, councillor Kohima Municipal Council and Dr. Rovi Zhiinyii.

The meet will conclude on February 7 with Angami Public Organization (APO) president Thejao Vihienuo as the guest of honour at 2:00 PM.
