The 53rd Ura Academy Seminar entered the second day with an orientation programme for Tenyidie teachers at Ura Academy Hall, Kohima on May 25.

Delivering keynote address, Kikruneinuo Liezietsu, Joint Secretary, Ura Academy, stated that as language develops with time, teachers are in dire need to be updated and refreshed. Such orientation will empower the language teacher to transact knowledge better, she said.

Touching on the seminar theme, ‘Mother Tongue: The power of our thought,’ she stated that Mother tongue and multilingualism under National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 will bring in more prospects to the language perpetuation.

In a brief  speech, Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu, President, Ura Academy called on the teaching fraternity as the language ‘missionary’ who will be the carriers of the knowledge of Tenyidie to the students and masses in general.
 
Intensive discussion on Nagaland Heritage Studies

An intensive discussion took place today on Nagaland Heritage Studies and Tenyidie development and perpetuation.
Resource person of the day, Dr Khotole Khieya, Associate Professor, Department of Education, Nagaland University Kohima Campus, Meriema spoke on the topic NEP 2020.

Another resource person, Dr Metseilhouthie Mor, Asst. Professor, Pfütsero Government College, presented a technical paper on ‘Grammar and Composition, Word division and literature’ while Vizonyü Liezietsu spoke on ‘Language Usage.’
Earlier, the programme was chaired by Dr. Medongulie Tseikha, President Ura Academy Rüpfhünuo.

Vimedo Keyho, Asst. Professor, Kohima Science College, Jotsoma invoked God’s blessing.

Folk tune was presented by Küzüve Kroko while vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Keneichanuo Mepfhüo.

On May 26, Tenyidie Kephrünuoko Krotho will be organising competitions on debate, story writing, poetry writing and essay writing competition. Dr Hovithal Sothu, Project Director, Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA) will exhort the gatherings in the third session.

During the closing ceremony, Award ceremony will take place to honor the meritorious students in the field of Tenyidie and Music in the HSLC, HSSLC and Undergraduate course.
 
‘Revive and upkeep the age old tradition’

Timikha Koza, President, Tenyimi People’s Organisation, who was the guest speaker at the introductory session on May 24, expressed concern over the diminishing culture of honesty and truthfulness in the society and called upon the Tenyimia community to revive and upkeep the age old tradition.

Later, he released Neizütso Mekrisuh’s Fifth book in Tenyidie, entitled ‘Kedakelie Kelhou A Vie.’

Deo Nukhu, member, Board of Director member, Ura Academy, stated that tradition and culture should be revived, such as skill based activities for sustenance.

The session was chaired by Daso Paphino, vice president Ura Academy. Welcome address was delivered by Vitshulieü Sekhose, Board of Director member, Ura Academy. Union Baptist Church choir, Gospel singer Ato Nienu and Lidi Kro-u presented special songs. Rev Tsolie Chase pastor, Baptist Church Khonoma and Rev Khrotso Mero, Board of Director member, Ura Academy pronounced invocation and benediction respectively.
