Noklak, January 10 (MExN): Advisor, Fisheries & Aquatic Resources, Evaluation & Economics & Statistics, L Khumo inaugurated the 5th Khiamniungan Sports Council meet on January 10 at Public Ground Noklak HQ under the theme, ‘Imagine life- beyond ordinary, driven by values.’
Encouraging the youths, a DIPR report stated that Advisor, L Khumo said sports should be taken up as career and the youngsters should be eager to learn and be disciplined in every aspect. Khumo asked the youngsters to avoid taking intoxicants and work harder to achieve success in life. He expressed his appreciation to the Khiamniungan Sports Council for taking initiatives for organizing the sport events and hoped that Noklak district will progress in sports.
Deputy commissioner Noklak, Hiazu Meru in his speech emphasized on the advantages of Sports. DC mentioned some of the benefits of sports like physical fitness and mental beings. Further, DC elaborated that sports improve discipline, honesty, team work, leadership and strategic planning. He encouraged all the sport persons to play well and excel in sports.
District Sports Officer, Noklak, Rokokhotso Krose also spoke during the occasion. Welcome address was delivered by President Khiamniungan Sports Council, Er T Elo while Oath taking was administered by Vice President Khiamniungan Sports Council, K Okie. Special song was presented by Hermanas band. Invocation prayer was delivered by Executive Secretary KBCA Hempao Lam. Sichang Khiamniungan and Er Ngou Lam were the comperes during the inaugural program.
The Sports meets is being organised by Khiamniungan Sports Council in collaboration with Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP). Football, Volleyball, Badminton, Marathon and Cross bow are the disciplines of the sports meet.
Khiamniungan Sports Council also felicitated sport persons of Noklak district from various disciplines under district and state level events. The recipients were Chongsop P, Thongkoi Y, Thingpia P, Phaam T, JeliamKhiam and Mongshai.
