5th Nagaland online open chess tourney concludes

Kunvuto Awomi, Pulonito Hesso and Jitihto Nyekha who came in 1st, 2nd and 3rd at the under-16 category of the 5th Nagaland online chess tournament.
Khoveto Vero wins open category, Kunvuto Awomi is U-16 winner
Kohima, May 17 (MExN): Khoveto Vero won the open category of the 5th Nagaland online open chess tournament. Mughaho Awomi came in second while Salhuto Nyekha placed third.
Meanwhile, in the under-16 category, Kunvuto Awomi emerged as the winner while Pulonito Hesso and Jitihto Nyekha came in second and third respectively.
The top 2 female players in the open category were Shabnam Singh and Tsesam
The tournament was sponsored by Toikhu Awomi, former Vice President, NCA and Khoveto Vero. Co sponsor for the event was Salhuto Nyekha.
All together 50 players registered to participate but due to unavoidable circumstances two players didn’t turn up and 48 players competed in the tournament.
Meanwhile, two FIDE rated players participated along with their sons which caught the attention of the chess community. They were Salhuto Nyekha F/o Jitihto Nyekha and Mengise Haikam F/o Akangzang Haikam . And not only did they participate but they even stood in position along with their sons.
Salhuto Nyekha was the 3rd position holder in open category and his son Jitihto Nyekha stood in 3rd in the under-16 category. Mengise Haikam stood in 9th position in open category and his son Akangzang Haikam secured the 6th position in the under-16 category.
