Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) speaker Sharingain Longkumer today adjourned the 5th session of the 14th NLA adjourned sine die after completing all the business for two sitting days.
The Speaker said that besides other important businesses during two sitting days, the House passed six Government Bills. It included; Nagaland Work-Charged and Casual Employees Regulation (First Amendment) Bill, 2024, Nagaland Goods and Services Tax (Ninth Amendment) Bill, 2024, Nagaland Road Safety Authority (Second Amendment) Bill, 2024, Nagaland Municipal (Amendment) Bill, 2024, Disqualification on Ground of Defection in Urban Local Bodies Bill, 2024 and Global Open University Nagaland (Second Amendment) Bill, 2024.
“We have had very fruitful and meaningful deliberations on topics of vital interest of our state,” Longkumer said adding that the 5th session had taken up seven subjects of paramount importance for discussion under Rule- 48, Rule-50 and Rule-54.
On discussion under Rule-48, 50 minutes were allotted to 4 members and on the discussion on matters of Urgent Public Importance under Rule- 50 in two days, 28 members had participated by allotting 9 hours and 25 minutes and under Rule 54, calling attention to matters of Urgent Public Importance, 25 minutes have been allotted, Longkumer informed.
The two sitting days witnessed discussion on Naga political issue, power sector reform, health hazards of spurious liquor and landslide and rock fall on National Highway-29.
The members also raised matters on ceasefire and law and order situation in the state and influx of illegal immigrants to Nagaland.
Question hours, laying of reports/rules, presentation of assembly committee reports, etc. also marked the two days sitting.
