6 Nagaland fighters shine at National MMA Selections, qualify for World Championships

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 6 (MExN): Six fighters from The Combat Academy, Nagaland, participated in the recently concluded National selections for Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and Striking MMA, vying for spots at the 2024 GAMMA World Championships in Indonesia. The event, held under the Federation of Mixed Martial Arts India, took place at the Dwarka Auditorium in Bengaluru on October 5-6.

Among the participants, Atokivi Chishi emerged victorious in the Bantamweight category for Striking MMA, earning a gold medal.

Kedokietuo Sirie also clinched gold in the 79kg category for MMA. Tsenchio Kikon took home a silver medal in the 52kg Strawweight Striking MMA category, while Sohilo Yimkhiung won bronze in the 70kg division. Wungvamsem Raman, who competed in the 65.8kg MMA category, had to forfeit due to an injury after winning his first bout. Thanmi Angkang earned silver in the 61.2kg division.

With these achievements, Chishi and Sirie have both qualified for the World Championships, where they will represent India in their respective weight categories. The Combat Academy fighters expressed excitement and readiness for the upcoming international challenge in Indonesia under the Global Association of Mixed Martial Arts (GAMMA).
