60 paramilitary personnel test COVID-19 positive in Nagaland

A total of 60 paramilitary personnel in Dimapur tested positive for COVID-19 on July 13, even as Nagaland witnessed the highest single day spike of 71 cases on Monday. 

 

A Health official from Dimapur told The Morung Express that the 60 new cases in Dimapur on July 13 were also related paramilitary personnel. 

 

Out of 60 cases, 39 of the cases were reported from ARTC Sukhovi, 16 from 5th Assam Rifles Kashiram and 5 were CRPF personnel, the official said.

 

While the total number of infections in Dimapur district stands at 318, the district also reported 160 recoveries as of July 13.

 

Earlier, Nagaland Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Minister S Pangnyu Phom informed in a tweet that 71 persons testing positive for COVID-19 on Monday morning - 60 are from Dimapur, 7 from Mon and 4 from Kohima.

 

It was the highest single day spike so far in the State. The previous highest one-day record was 59 cases on June 22. 

 

Meanwhile, the Minister also updated on Twitter that there were 13 recovered cases in the State on Monday – 10 from COVID-19 Care Centre, Jakhama, 2 from Dimapur and 1 from Kohima.

 

“However, they will be kept under strict surveillance,” he added. 

 

Accordingly, the State’s COVID-19 cases on July 13 stood at: Positive: 845; Active: 505; and Recovered: 340.
