DIMAPUR, MAY 11 (MExN): Following up on the disclosure made by the opposition Congress on what it alleged was the financial mismanagement of the State by the DAN III as a result of its legacy for the past two terms, the NPCC has once again questioned the NPF led DAN government for creating a huge deficit, which it stated had “created a record for a small state like Nagaland”.
The NPCC Media Cell has in a statement pointed to the borrowing from open market and financial institutions well above the permissible limits; spending huge capital to service the debts and high interest rates and what it alleged was “hoarding a staggering amount of over 648 crores in Civil Deposit which has attracted the attention of the Planning Commission of India (PCI) leading to delay in finalization of the annual plan outlay for 2013-14”.
The Media Cell has issued a separate list of the “staggering amount kept in Civil Deposit”. The press note stated, “The departments will be at fault for issuing utilization certificate and illegal for the state government to ask for utilization certificate from the departments as brought earlier by the NPCC.”
Stating that the formation of DAN III spells “ominous signs for the State and its people with tighter monetary measures envisaged”, the NPCC has pointed out that “hundreds and thousands of crores have been generously pumped in by the Congress led UPA government at the Centre for the past decade, but the work is yet to be replicated on ground and remains only on paper”.
“The supposed mandate of the people that NPF leaders parrots on every platform is perhaps taken as a mandate to perpetrate and loot the state exchequer but posterity will never forgive the present NPF Leaders who have deprived the state of development and advancement and are immune to the cries of the people”, stated the Media Cell, NPCC.
