The three-day 69th Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (AKM) general conference culminated with the election of new office bearers and passing of new resolutions at Akhoya village, Mokokchung on January 20.
AKM former president, T Mulong Aier, who was present as the valedictory guest, encouraged the students to prove the concept of Clean Election without falling into corruption and participating in the upcoming election in true sense of choosing good leadership. He encouraged the students to practically follow ‘education in praxis’ by becoming self-reliant.
During the session a new set of office bearers for the tenure 2023-2026 were constituted with Lanutoshi Aier, President (Lirmen), Onenpong, Vice President (Kinunger), Satemmongba, General Secretary (Akhoya), Pangjungkaba, Assistant General Secretary (Chungtiayimsen), Lanulemba Longchar, Education Secretary (Sungratsü), Ayimakum Aier (Longjang) Finance Secretary, Imnayachet Mollier Culture Secretary (Mongchen), Temlangsangba Sports Secretary (Longkhum), Bendangnangba Information Secretary (Chungtiayimsen).
The dedicatory prayer for new office bearers was delivered by Lima Imsong, Touring Missionary, Unger.
Two major resolutions among many that were passed at the valedictory programme were to set-up an UPSC Aspirant Trust Fund for which the Akhoya Students’ Union donated a sum of Rs 5 lakh; and AKM further resolved to conduct conclaves, in consonance with the theme of the conference ‘Education in Praxis.’ The Conclaves will be held focusing on entrepreneurship, career guidance, research development & innovation, financing and job mela. An app will also be developed which will guide the students in the mentioned field.
Earlier, brief speeches were presented by the outgoing and incoming Presidents, Imkongsunep, Convenor, AKM Planning Committee and Aochuba, IFS, Convenor, Local Planning Committee gave the vote of thanks.
The 70th AKM General Conference at will be held at Chungtia village and hosted by Chungtia Students’ Union in 2026.
