72 hours Manipur bandh threat

IMPHAL, NOVEMBER 6 (NNN): Candidates who had appeared police constable recruitment test said they will impose a 72-hour Manipur state wide bandh starting from 5 am of November 10 if the State Government fails to declare the test results by November 9. The All Manipur Police Constable Male Civil Viva Voce Completed Candidates 2016 (AMPCMCVVCC) said it took this decision following the lapse of the November 4 deadline set by the candidates earlier for the declaration of the results.   Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club in Imphal today, All Manipur Police Constable Male Civil Viva Voce Completed Candidates 2016 general secretary Manichandra Chanabam said that fresh procedures for recruiting of over two thousand posts in the Manipur police was initiated in the month of May last year. After completing physical efficiency test and the written test, viva voce was conducted between November 2 and November 5 last year. Over six thousand candidates had participated in the viva voce, Manichandra added. However, results could not be declared after the election model code of conduct came into effect (Manipur Legislative Assembly election). Even long after elections were completed the results are yet to be declared, he rued.   Meanwhile, another group---the All Manipur DPC Completed Re-recruitment Candidates of Police Constable Male, 2013 Batch---appealed the State Government not to declare the 2016 batch police constable viva voce results before declaring their viva voce results.   Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, the All Manipur DPC Completed Re-recruitment Candidates of Police Constable Male, 2013 Batch president A Binoy urged the State Government to declare their results before November 15. He warned that if the State Government declares the 2016 batch “bypassing” the 2013 batch, the eight thousand candidates of 2013 batch who had faced the DPC will launch intense forms of agitation to the extreme including “committing suicide”. These candidates were suffering for more than five years waiting for the said posts, Binoy said.
