Dimapur, October 24 (MExN): Nagaland's COVID-19 tally rose to 8,515 on Saturday as 79 more people tested positive for the infection, the state Health and Family Welfare Department said.
Dimapur district reported the highest number of new cases at 44, followed by Kohima (23), Tuensang (5), Zunheboto (4), Mon (2 while Kiphire recorded 1 new case, according to the bulletin issued by the health department’s Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP). Of the new cases, 42 were from traced contacts, 34 from armed forces/security personnel, two from returnees/travellers and one front line worker.
As many as 98 people, out of which 82 were from Dimapur, 12 from Kohima and 4 from Mon, have been cured of the disease in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 6, 598.
This takes the number of active cases in the state to 1,815.
As per the IDSP data, 1,727 active cases are asymptomatic, 66 cases are mild, 16 cases are moderate on oxygen, 2 cases are severe on oxygen, and 4 are on ventilators.
A total of 24 patients have died of COVID-19, 6 were COVID positive but ‘not COVID related,’ while probe is underway to determine the cause of two deaths, the bulletin stated.
Altogether 70 COVID-19 patients have migrated to other states.
