Sovima, December 5 (MExN): The 7th edition of Hornbill Bamboo Carnival 2023 organised by Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency (NBDA) in collaboration with Tourism Department was inaugurated by Zhaleo Rio, IAS (Retd), Advisor, Urban Development & Municipal Affairs at Nagaland Bamboo Resource Centre, Sovima on December 5.

A press release from NBDA stated that the Advisor exhorted the gathering to focus on the upliftment of our economy though bamboo resources which is in abundance across the State. He encouraged the youths to be dedicated, innovative and acquire skills in this sector to face the challenges in life in this highly competitive world. 

Later, Zhaleo inaugurated the exhibition stalls which were set up by bamboo entrepreneurs. 

The welcome address was delivered by Nuzota Swuro, Chairman, NBDA who encouraged the bamboo artisans and farmers to be partners in developing the bamboo industry of the State. A Chakhesang folk song was presented by Vekutalu and Azolu and cultural dances were performed by the Yimkhiung Surale Cultural Society. Special Invitee, Dr Kuzo Vadeo, NCS, ADC Chümoukedima also spoke during the programme which was chaired by Dr Tolto Metha, Team Member, NBDA. 

The three-day Hornbill Bamboo Carnival will culminate on December 7 and feature exhibition and sales, food courts, music and fashion and cultural programmes.
