7th Unity Cup kicks off in Chümou

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 14 (MExN): The 7th Unity Cup T-20 Cricket tournament, organized by Nepali Baptist Church Chümoukedima Youth sports ministry, kicked off in Chümoukedima on January 14 under the theme ‘Solidarity for peace.’ 

Chümoukedima Town Students’ Union beat Chümoukedima Gorkha Youth by 8 Wickets in the friendly exhibition match. Chümoukedima Gorkha Youth batted first and set up a target of 152 runs in 20 overs. 

Tutu of Chümoukedima Town Students’ Union scored 99 not out  for his team chasing the target, and was adjudged the man of the match for his 99 runs knock. 

All together 28 teams have registered and will be playing for the 6th edition Unity Cup. It will be held till February 3 at Chümoukedima local ground.

Earlier, Kahuto Chishi Sumi, Spokesperson, Nagaland Gaonbura Federation & Convenor, Concerned People of Nagaland graced the opening ceremony as the chief guest while Gopal Lama, President and Founder of Chümoukedima Gorkha Union was the guest of honour.
