8 Congress members of CADC tenders mass resignation

  Newmai News Network AIZAWL, APRIL 27   Eight Congress members of the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC), including four Executive Members (EMs) submitted their resignation to Chief Executive Member (CEM) Kali Kumar Tongchangya, sources in the Congress party said.   The eight Congress MDCs allegedly submitted their resignation on April 24 demanding a 'change of leadership' in the CADC.   The four Congress EMs who tendered resignation are Amit Kumar Chakma, incharge of taxation and land revenue; Amar Sniti Chakma, incharge of education; Chitra Kumar Chakma, incharge of road transport; and Susen Chakma, incharge of forest. Besides, four MDCs namely Ajoy Kumar Chakma incharge of Deputy Chief Whip ;  Mohan Chakma  incharge of Chairman, Town Planning and Sushi Kumar Chakma incharge of President, School Education Board also submitted resignation.   Chief Executive Member Kali Kumar told reporters that the eight members submitted their resignation allegedly because they wanted a change in leadership.   He said that they are working on to resolve the political dissension and Congress leadership at Aizawl will decide over the matter.   The ruling Congress party has 17 members in CADC, while opposition the Mizo National Front (MNF) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have one member each.
