Dimapur | July 26
The 8-day total lockdown in Dimapur, to curb the spread of COVID-19 cases and enhance active surveillance and contact tracing, came into effect on July 26. The total lockdown will continue till August 2.
The streets in Dimapur wore a completely deserted look as people stayed indoor following the imposition of strict lockdown measures.
While movement of people and vehicles were minimal with July 26 being a Sunday, security measures were enhanced considerably to enforce the lockdown guidelines.
In most checkpoints, security forces were seen closely scrutinising commuters, while most vehicles on the roads were in the exempted list.
The Dimapur District Task Force enforced total lockdown in Dimapur from July 26 to August 2 in “order to enhance active surveillance and to ensure comprehensive contact tracing, detection of suspected cases and implementation of isolation measures so that the chain of transmission of COVID-19 infection can be slowed down and contained.”
It was decided during an emergency meeting of the DTF on July 24, a day after announcing a partial lockdown in the city.
