Out of the 49 personnel under investigation for involvement in the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) case, the Nagaland Police has dismissed eight, while three government servants from different departments have been arrested.
Besides the dismissals, the inquiry has reached an advanced stage for the remaining 41 cases, as informed by Director General of Police (DGP), Rupin Sharma, during a press conference at the Police headquarters in Kohima on December 13.
Additionally, the cases involving three government servants are under investigation, and the police have requested the concerned departments to initiate necessary action at their level, he added.
In September this year, the DGP issued the sternest warning yet to the state's cops regarding issues of drug abuse, trafficking, and alcoholism.
'This is the last warning...,' he asserted at that time, adding that from bottom to top-level, they would be shown "no mercy" and penalised with ‘sukha’ discharge – the informal term for forced premature retirement without any benefits..
