DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 21 (MExN): The Commissioner of Police, Dimapur today informed that a total of 814 cases under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and other Special and Local Laws (SLL) were registered in Chümoukedima, Dimapur and Niuland districts for the year 2023.
The comparative crime statistics for the three districts released by the Dimapur Commissioner of Police informed that of these, 543 cases were registered under the IPC and 271 cases were registered under SLL.
A total of 712 persons were arrested with relation to these cases; 370 under IPC and 342 under SLL.
The statistics also revealed that under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 88 cases were registered leading to the arrest of 149 persons, and a seizure of contraband and cash worth Rs 12,98,39,100.
With regard to extortion related cases, the police data informed that till December 21, 2023, 49 cases have been registered and 62 persons have been arrested. Under these cases, 5 arms, 90 rounds of ammunition, cash of Rs 18,81,210 and 78 SP capsules were recovered.
Under the Arms Act, 50 persons were arrested in relation to 45 cases. 59 arms have been recovered along with 3,565 rounds of ammunition, 100 grams of gunpowder and cash worth Rs 4,75,330.
It was further informed that under the NLTP Act, 126 cases were registered, 129 persons arrested and 15,946.5 litre of IMFL was seized.
