Phek, May 29 (MExN): The Phek Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) organised a free medical camp at Wuzu Village, Phek District on May 26.
A specially constituted team under the Regimental Medical Officer examined 86 people comprising 18 Male, 33 Female and 35 children.
The aim of the medical camp was to provide free medical examination and treatment to the local populace of Wuzu, Phor and New Phor village, who are devoid of requisite medical facilities, an AR press note informed.
Free medicines were also provided to the ailing patient and mosquito nets were distributed to old people and families with infants keeping in mind the epidemic diseases caused by mosquitoes during the rainy season, it said.
Apart from the medical assistance, basic knowledge on epidemic diseases including awareness on the widely spreading Nipha Virus was also imparted to the locals, it added.
