9,000 students in Meghalaya yet to receive post-matric scholarships

Newmai News Network Shillong | April 20   As many as 9000 students in Meghalaya are yet to receive their post-matric scholarships due to a varied number of reasons.   Informing this on Friday, State Education Minister, Lahkmen Rymbui said these students had not received this scholarship as some of them had applied for it multiple times while others have failed to give IFSC code and correct bank account number.   This information provided was in response to a query raised by Congress MLA from East Shillong Ampareen Lyngdoh during Friday’s session of the Budget Session of the state assembly.   Informing that this has been detected through the online application process, Rymbui said there has been no complaint of non – receipt of scholarship by the department.   Rymbui further informed that a total of 54,899 students have benefited from this scheme in the last academic session.   Meanwhile, Lyngdoh urged the education department to ensure that educational institutions assist the students in applying for the scholarship so that they do not have to line up at the cyber cafes.
