A 96-year-old man was allegedly robbed of cash and important documents by two unidentified persons while walking alone from Longla village to Wokha town on Tuesday, family members said.
The victim, identified as Ekyimo Ngullie, was intercepted in a secluded, forested stretch between the waiting shed and the prayer centre at Saron Colony between 8 am and 9 am, they said.
The assailants allegedly covered his face before fleeing with all the cash and documents he was carrying, according to family members. Ngullie did not sustain any physical injuries in the incident, they added.
A First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged with the local police, a family member confirmed.
Following the registration of the FIR, police personnel accompanied the victim to the scene of the incident to conduct an inspection.
An official said that Ngullie was unable to identify the suspects as his face was covered during the incident. Further investigation is underway.
