9th edition of Magnum Opus- an Art and Music Festival culminates

Dimapur, October 28 (MExN): The Act of Kindness Society (AoK), in partnership with Artsy Naga School of Fine Arts (ANSoFA) held the 9th edition of Magnum Opus, an Art and Music Festival at the ANSoFA on October 25 and 26. 

 

The festival began with art demonstrations and workshops on the first day led by Mughaka Swu and Ritsanok Longchar, focusing on sculpting and painting respectively. 

Thang Paite, Lipokmanen Longkumer and Ritsanok Longchar were the guest artists for the two-day Art Demonstration. 

On the second day, a painting competition was held with around 70 participants from Dimapur and Chümoukedima districts competing across three categories- junior, sub-junior, and open category. The competition was judged by Aku Zeliang, Creative Director of Heirloom Naga Centre and Cane Concept and founder of Urra Design & Objects, Moaso Aier, an artist and museologist; and Limasangwa Aonok, an artist from SASRD Nagaland University. 

Nungshitula Pongener graced the programme with a special number. Words of encouragement by Aku Zeliang was inspiring where he appreciated and encouraged the participants and the unique experience he had on the day, also extending future collaborations with AoK, ANSoFA and Heirloom Naga Centre. Prize Distribution was done by Tunavi Achumi.

Painting Competition winners:
•    Sub-Junior Category (13 years and below): First prize (Rs 4000)-Ethan Pongen; runner-up (Rs 2000)-Temjenkokla 

•    Junior Category (ages 14-18): First prize (Rs 10,000) Etoka; runner-up (Rs 6,000) Nutele Khesoh 

•    Open Category: First prize (Rs 15,000) - Rahul Alam; runner-up (Rs 10,000)-Bishw Deb
