A forgotten day in history

The Nagas, especially the Naga National Council (NNC), Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN), and the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) always observed September 6, as peace Day or Thanksgiving Day to God every year since 1964, which remarked as a ceasefire Day in between Nagaland and India. But the Nagas had forgotten November 11, on which Day God Almighty stretched out His mighty hands and saved the Naga nation from the doom fiasco. I have taken it as a great day in history for the Nagas. Because, if not for God, the Naga nation might have been recorded as a surrender nation since 1975, 47 years ago. So, it would be good for the Nagas to constitute it as a day of thanksgiving to God our Lord.

It was a fact that the Government of India (GoI) had an assured plan to make the Naga nation surrender under her armed might and sent more than five divisions of the Indian Army to Nagaland adding to the existing Police and Paramilitary armed forces in Nagaland. Hence, the Naga nation was completely and heavily surrounded by Indian armed forces in those days, and forced some Naga national leaders to sign an accord under duress on November 11, 1975. As soon as the Accord was signed, India Doda Shan broadcasted to the world that the Nagas surrendered unconditionally. But later, the Accord was found not to be recorded as an official document. Because the signatories were made to sign only in the capacity of underground organizations without mentioning Nagas and Nagaland or NNC and FGN. The Naga nation was thus miraculously saved by God our Lord from surrendering.

When we carefully and deliberately study the process of signing the Accord, we can find God's hands were there to protect the Naga nation from surrendering. The Nagas, therefore, must thank God from our utmost hearts for saving Nagaland. With the power of God, we can proudly stand as a sovereign and independent nation and are joyously observing our Nagaland Independence Day every year up to date, 75 years now from the declaration of Nagaland Independence on 14thAugust 1947, ahead of India and Burma became independent nations.

As God is protecting our nation, no nation can deprive us of our right to be a nation among the nations of the world.
