A high school in Khonoma in 52 years!

Dimapur, February 7 (MExN): 52 years after getting a Government Middle School, Khonoma Village finally got its High School on Tuesday, February 7. A press release issued by the Khonoma Village Council said that the new High School was inaugurated by T. Imkonglemba, IAS, Commissioner and Secretary, School Education and SCERT, Government of Nagaland.

Inaugurating the new High School, Imkonglemba said that the people of Khonoma had produced leaders in various fields in the past and he expressed the hope that the new High School would help produce even more leaders, administrators, social workers etc. He recalled with fondness his own and his family’s association with people of Khonoma. Since 1985 Imkonglemba had been regularly visiting the village. 

Expressing the Government’s support, Imkonglemba stated that expansion work would begin from the coming financial year. The Commissioner & Secretary was accompanied by Chingmak Chang, Additional Secretary and Mission Director of SSA, VL Meyase, Additional Director of School Education and R. Metha, DEO, Kohima. District administration officials also attended.

Proposing the vote of thanks, ex chairman of Village Education Committee and past president of Angami Public Organization, Mhiesizokho Zinyu told the gathering that the occasion was a red letter day for the people of Khonoma. The Village Council Chairman echoed similar feelings and expressed gratitude to the Government for the up-gradation.

The invocation prayer and the benediction were said by the Baptist Pastor and the Catholic Catechist. The programme was chaired by Dr Buno Zetsuvi, member of Khonoma Village Education Committee.
