Tuensang, June 17 (MExN): The Shamator Village Council has made a clarification regarding a recent news item that appeared in The Morung Express (‘Tikhir Tribal Council responds to YTC/YAA charge’; June 16, 2009). While stating that after the inception of the Yimchunger, “there was no other tribe such as Tikhir”, the Village Council, in a note jointly signed by Shuthong, VDB secretary, and J Shuto, SVC chairman, claimed that “after the formation of the so-called TTC and its Limitsong group (terrorist) there was a misunderstanding between the Yimchunger brothers”. The Yimchungers comprise of “5 home dialects” like the Langa, Tikhir, Mukong, Chir and Longphur dialects, they added.
Therefore, the note went on, “as citizens of the Yimchunger and Shamator village, T M Susang was appointed as the deputy speaker of YAA”. The Shamator Village Council further rejected the claim that T M Susang was appointed under gunpoint, and termed the statement as totally baseless.
