I give my humble salute to Lt. Col Vesazo Khamu Chakhesang, who was killed by Muivah-Isak-Khaplang in November 1979 in Heimi Region, Eastern part of Nagaland. After more than 44 years, his skeletons were brought home and a function of his funeral service was conducted yesterday on 4thApril 2023 at his Phesachodu village.
He was killed 44 years ago but his voice to the Naga people is still fresh. While he was being beaten again and again and led to his grave, he yelled out loudly and said; “I am a man and not afraid to die for my nation, today I’ll die because I am against Muivah’s socialism, but socialism shall never overcome the NNC” then he was killed. There are still a few Nagas including women soldiers who heard Lt. Col. Vesazo’s ululating as he was led outside the camp and shot.
And also, the late Ngathingkhui Ahum Tangkhul, Finance Minister of FGN and his younger brother Lieutenant Jacob Ahum were killed on 3rd January 1980. They were the last victim of Muivah and Isak before the NSCN was formed. When Ngathingkhui was about to be shot dead, he said; “my friend Muivah is killing me because I opposed his socialism”. This was narrated by Eno Ramyo Ahum who was with Ngathingkhui Ahum at Hasik Lungkhu village when Ngathingkhui was killed. Ramyo Ahum was also killed by NSCN-IM on June 20, 1994, in Kohima.
Their voices have remained forever as proof and evidence that why they were killed by them while the murderers ‘NSCN leaders’ had been telling lies from the top of their voices up to these 44 years, saying; they were killed because they supported the Shillong Accord. Their voices proved the fact that they had no division on the matter of the Accord except Muivah’s socialism.
They had been using the death Shillong Accord to cover up hundreds of their murder cases. If not, they would have no problem to admit ranklythat they were killed because they strongly opposed Muivah’s socialism. Henceforth they had been committing telling lies up to date because they are haunted the murders they had committed.
