DIKSHA - a national digital platform to aid teachers for creating and using innovative tech-based solutions in classrooms has been formally launched in Nagaland.
It was formally launched today in the presence of Nagaland’s School Education & SCERT Principal Secretary Menukhol John, School Education Director Wongthungo Tsopoe, SCERT Director T Sekhose and Pranshul Jain, Team DIKSHA, MHRD, Project Management Unit at State Council of Educational Research & Training (SCERT).
DIKSHA (Digital Infrastructure for Knowledge Sharing) has been named as an IT platform for quality intervention for teachers and teacher educators. It will aid teachers in creating and using innovative tech-based solutions in their classrooms.
Principal Secretary Menukhol John asserted that the method of DIKSHA will “support teachers to create a vibrant mode of teaching and learning” and added that it will encourage students to be active participants in the learning process.
The digital platform enables students, teachers, teacher educators, educational functionaries, parent to access digital resources for teaching- learning resources and professional development in the form of audiovisual at the fingertips.
T. Sekhose said that DIKSHA has been introduced in order to equip the teachers on how to transact the learning outcomes and educational objectives in and through the mode of technology of multimedia towards the directions of learning tools to help the department and teachers.
He stated that as part of DIKSHA, a digital initiative of MHRD, Government of India and National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), the SCERT Nagaland has developed energized textbooks (Quick Response Code incorporated textbooks) as a pilot project in 2 textbooks covering English (Class-V) and Social Science (Classes V).
In the above text books e-contents are linked with the QR codes printed on the textbooks which can be accessed by scanning the QR Codes.
Though SCERT, Nagaland has been developing e-contents for ETBs, technical management of the DIKSHA portal is looked after DIKSHA- PMU team, appointed by MHRD, Government of India. Hence technical aspect is not under the jurisdiction of SCERT, Nagaland, Sekhose stated.
The director stated that the entire task is going on as a pilot project covering 2 textbooks and utmost care has been taken by SCERT Nagaland to avoid errors, both academic and technical as it is completed within a short period of time.
The director further invited suggestions from students, teachers, parents, guardians and general public for improvement of the e-contents. If any technical or academic error is notice, conscious citizens have also been requested to bring it to the notice of the SCERT, Nagaland, Kohima.
