
Dimapur, May 6 (MExN): Aajeevika Evam Kaushal Vikas Diwas, an event under Gram Swaraj Abhiyan aimed at increasing the reach of rural households to livelihoods and skill development schemes of government, was organized across Nagaland on May 5.
Chen: Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM) and Department of Rural Development (RD) celebrated the event at RD conference hall, Chen Town in Mon district. A press release informed that BPM, NSRLM Chen bock, Manlem while briefing about the programme said it directly targets the poor families for creation of assets and self employment.
PM Nokpai, village council chairman, Chenwetnyu village encouraged the Self Help Groups (SHGs) members to cooperate and utilize the government fund and scheme properly as the aim of NLRM is sustainable improvement in the household incomes, livelihoods, and well-being and empowerment of the rural poor. He also urged the department to be transparent in any plan, fund or scheme.
Lihnyu, one of the SHG members from Chenwetnyu village shared her experiences of the tour to Hyderabad. “As a member or through SHG, women can create peace and cleanliness in society,” she stated.
Success stories were shared by three members from different SHGs. Meritorious certificates were also awarded to three best SHGs under Chen block.
Kubolong: The event was also held in Kubolong block under Mokochung district, where there was sharing of activities and experiences by SHGs members.
Tumchobeni Ngullie, Acct. cum DEO shared about Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) and its importance for the rural unemployed youth. Under the scheme, skill development training will be provided to unemployed youth through online registrations, and there will be opportunity of job placement according to their interest in different sectors, it was informed.
C Wati Walling, village council chairman, Yimchalu village encouraged the SHG members to focus on livelihood skills and work collectively for the uplift of the mission. He also encouraged the village councils from all the villages to support NSRLM in achieving its goal which in turn will benefit the villagers to a great extent.
Nchumthung Kikon, Senior Manager, NSCB, Mokokchung stressed on the practice of ‘Panchasutra’ strictly and to widen the vision of the women folk to strive for the uplift of one’s own family and village as a whole. He encouraged the SHG members to follow the footsteps of SHGs in Changtongya and Tuli blocks which are maintaining a standard relationship with the bank and 100 percent loan recovery. Nchumthung also informed about the facilities provided by the bank.
Meanwhile, Moatoshi, Block Program Manager enlightened the gathering on the facilities and program under NSRLM. He informed that training and formation of Village Level Organisation (VLO) will start in October 2018. Longleng: NSRLM Longleng block observed Aajeevika Evam Kaushal Vikas Diwas at DRDA conference hall, Longleng with Deputy Commissioner John Tsulise Sangtam as the guest of honour.
“With gender disparity still prevailing in our society, NSRLM will prove to be a mechanism to fight against discrimination and stigma in Longleng,” the DC stated. He later presented awards to four best SHGs and one VLO for their outstanding performance in the district and state level. The DC also congratulated the Awangthemla VLO Yachem for being declared as the best performing VLO in the State.
The event saw sharing of success story by individuals and SHGs. The progress of VLO was presented by Awangthemla VLO, Yachem, while action plan of BLF was presented by BLF, Longleng block.
Sanis: Department of Rural Development, NSRLM, Block Mission Management Unit (BMMU) Sanis RD block observed the event at Block Ghar, Sanis under Wokha district.
Block Programme Manager, BMMU/NSRLM Sanis block, Chibeni Ngullie in the keynote addressing highlighted the various schemes and policies under the programme and urged to avail the opportunity being created by the government with a view to uplift the economic standard of the rural populace.
EAC Lotsu, Wanmei C Phom said that various schemes and policies are being introduced by the government of India with a view to facilitate the rural populace and urged the participants to take the training programmes seriously. He also urged the Self Help Groups to increase their activities with an aim to uplift their economic standards.
Acct. cum DEO, BMMU/NSRLM Sanis block, Areni also briefed the participants about the activities of DDU-GKY. Registration for skill training of unemployed youths under the age group of 18 to 35 was also done.
Around 150 SHGs members from 21 villages under Sanis block attended the function.
Satakha: The Block Mission Management Unit, Satakha also observed Aajeevika Evam Kaushal Vikas Diwas at Satakha Tokukujo Kukami Hoho ki, Satakha.
Speech on Gram Swaraj Abhiyan was delivered by Ajit Kumar Ranjan (IAS), SDO (Civil) Zunheboto. He encouraged the women to improve their livelihoods and also stressed on the need of women's participation in decision making in the society. The SDO further emphasised on the need to have exposure and trainings for SHG members.
Highlighting the importance of having bank correspondent, he added that accountants of good performing SHGs will be trained and they will work in their respective villages for doing transaction in the villages.
Tolika Sema, Block Program Manager, Satakha highlighted the objectives, goals, vision of NRLM. She also presented the various activities, progress and status of NRLM.
Hiuto Chophy spoke on DDU-GKY, which he said is a program for youth employment launched on September 25, 2014 by MoRD. The program is focused on skilling the youths with minimum duration of 3 months training with 100% placement for rural youths, he added.
Vicky Murru from Department of Rural Development, Satakha block, spoke about various schemes like MGNRGA,PMGA-Y, Grant-in-aid under the RD department. Abeto Kinimi from State Bank of India, Satakha branch also shared about various schemes for the rural poor. Hokugha from Gas Agency, Satakha spoke about free gas connection and encouraged the participants to avail such opportunities by submitting the required documents.
Best performing Village Level Organisation was awarded to Vioni VLO Khukiye Village, best performing Self Help Group was given to Akumuto SHG, and best SHG member to Visheni of Tukunasa village.
Wokha: NSRLM, RD Wokha block celebrated the event at VDB conference hall, Wokha. Thungdeno Mozhui, Project Director cum DMM DRDA, Wokha in the keynote address highlighted the objectives of Gram Swaraj Abhiyan, while Nzanbemo Y Patton, BPM presented a progress report on the status of Wokha block.
Nchumbeni Odyuo of Lotus SHG, Old Riphyim and Janbeni of Eva-Thera SHG, Wokha Village shared their success story.
Officials present from various departments shared on the departmental schemes that will benefit the SHGs and the rural community. They also urged the SHGs to avail the schemes and execute schemes judiciously for the uplift of the society as a whole. Sunil Pant, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India interacted with the participants in regards to the schemes under Gram Swaraj Abhiyan and reiterated that Government of India in collaboration with the State government will be reaching out to all the rural areas in the country.
Chümoukedima: Aajeevika Evam Kaushal Vikas Diwas was also observed at Tenyiphe-1 Village Council Hall under Chümoukedima. Organized by Block Mission Management Unit, RD block Chümoukedima, it was attended by all the villages under the block. Raj Krishan Bhoria, Deputy Secretary under Ministry of Statistics and Implementing Agency, Government of India and H Atokhe Aye, Project Director, DRDA, Dimapur DMM were among the officers who attended the event. Awards were given away to various individuals, SHGs and VLO.
