Abiogenesis performs at RGU’s ‘Consensio 2020’

Abiogenesis, a rock-fusion band from Nagaland was a part of the inauguration ceremony of ‘Consensio 2020’ Festival at Royal Global University (RGU), Guwahati on February 7.


The inaugural day of the festival’s 11th edition included an eclectic cultural extravaganza of traditional dance performances showcased by the students where the band also performed.


This year’s edition is held under the theme ‘Desi Gulliyan,’ and will culminate on February 9.


Chief guest Prof (Dr) Dipika Deka, Vice Chancellor, Srimanta Sankardeva University of Health Sciences, Assam inaugurated Consensio 2020, along with guests of honor – Anshu Jamsenpa, a mountaineer & Himalayan lover as well as Tarali Sarma, an acclaimed singer, composer & music director from Assam.


Mao Subong & Arenla Subong, singers of Abiogenesis were heartily welcomed at the inauguration ceremony along with other dignitaries.


It may be mentioned that the band has received National Award for Innovation and has been a nominee of the 58th Grammy Awards.


At the event, Abiogenesis was conferred the title ’Pride of North–East’ by the University for their contributions and achievements in music, blending indigenous and tribal sounds with a modern fusion, their innovation of the musical tool ‘BamHum,’ as well as their form of music – ‘Howey.’


Prof Dr Deka inspired the students to raise the standards of their universities with the help of research and publications. She wished all the students the best in their future endeavors.


Day 1 ended on a note of tough competitions and glam as students gravitated towards the event - Vogue at the end of the day.


The three-day Consensio’20 has Sunburn Campus and singing sensation Monali Thakur, to perform for the first time in the Northeast.  


Some of the major highlights include ‘Urjaa’ involving the business school competitions, ‘Art Beats’ involving fine art events & ‘Fest-o-Fiesta’ consisting of performing art events. A press release from Indrakshi B, Team Media & Press stated that the fest witness students from Guwahati, the entire North East region and the rest of India with a footfall of 50,000+ making it “#BeConsensio, the biggest fest of Northeast.”
