Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) secretary general Abu Metha today inaugurated the office of NDPP Pughoboto Region at Pughoboto town.

Speaking on the occasion, Metha maintained that Pughoboto area is a historic and legendary place for all the Naga people and thanked the people of Pughoboto for their contribution towards the Naga movement and journey of the Naga people.

He also looked forward to their continued contribution and leadership for the bright future of the Naga people.

He said that NDPP is a serious political party and its foundation and roots is in regionalism.

“We realized that we have to voice the feelings and desires of the Naga people to the global community,” he said,
We are a regional party with its roots in regionalism with national outlook, he added.

Today, he said, Naga people cannot go ahead in isolation. No community, no race and no organization can hope to survive, improve and progress in isolation.

In this, he stressed on the need to build a healthy partnership and collaboration with others “so that Nagas can go ahead.”
 
‘We want early resolution of the Naga political issue’
Touching on the Naga political issue, he informed that the NDPP has extended its fullest support to the Parliamentary Committee on Naga Political Issue and Core Committee.

We want early resolution of the Naga political issue. We want permanent peace to prevail in Nagaland, he said and reiterated that the NDPP will stand with whatever resolution is taken by the Parliamentary Committee and Core Committee on Naga political issue. “Our party has given commitment that if solution comes, we will pave the way. We will not be a stumbling block,” he reiterated on behalf of the Chief Minister and NDPP president.

Metha also assured that the NDPP would do everything possible and act as facilitators to support the peace process and bring peace to “our land and our people.”

Today, Nagaland has to be known for the right things and not for wrong reasons and violence, he said.
  
Rio to inaugurate Mini secretariat
Metha announced that Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio will be inaugurating the Mini Secretariat at Pughoboto.

He also assured to extend full support to the initiative of Green Pughoboto.

Welcoming all the party workers and leaders for joining the NDPP party, he said, “We are happy to be back together as one family.”

Metha commended  MLA Y Vikheho Swu as a leader, who has vision not only for the people of Pughoboto area but for the people of Nagaland.

“Today, Pughoboto has to send an MLA to the assembly not only for the good of the people of Pughoboto area but for the good of the Naga people,” he said.

Also speaking on the occasion, MLA Vikheho Swu from 13th Pughoboto Assembly Constituency thanked the chief minister Neiphiu Rio and NDPP president Chingwang Konyak for granting the status of Pughoboto Region in the affairs of NDPP.

He said that Pughoboto Sub Division is one of the most privilegedSub Divisions in the state for occupying as Election District and also according Pughoboto Sub Divisional Planning & Development Board.

Such development has been made possible through Rio, he maintained.

Swu also shared about various initiatives under Pughoboto Sub Division like Green Pughoboto, Skilling Pughoboto, Back to Village, Eco Rides Cycle Network, Paver Block, Meat Production Centre etc.

He also stated that the inauguration of SDO Horticulture Office is likely to take place soon including Mini Secretariat.

MLA Yitachu, NDPP CEB treasurer Dr John Murry and NDPP Pughoboto Region advisor Vihoto Shohe also spoke at the programme.

Earlier, the programme was chaired by NDPP Pughoboto Region working president Hetovi Kappo while welcome address was delivered by NDPP Pughoboto Region president Kughakhu Sheqi.
