‘Achhi Aadat’: NFR joins hands with JICA for good habit campaign

Guwahati, February 22 (MExN): The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in collaboration with Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has launched the “Achhi Aadat (Good Habit) Campaign” to raise awareness among school students about the importance of good hygiene practices.

The campaign, which kicked off from NFR on February 21, will continue till February 25, informed a press release from the NFR Chief Public Relations Officer, Sabyasachi De.

The objective of the campaign is to introduce a simple and practical approach to hygiene and sanitation related issues by promoting hand washing, nail cleaning and other hygiene practices such as wearing mask in a correct way amongst school children, it said. 

The campaign is being conducted in 15 Railway Schools in NFR including 10  in Assam (5 in Guwahati-5 and 1 each in Lumding, Badarpur, Mariani, New Tinsukia and Dibrugah),  and 1 each inDimapur, Alipurduar, Siliguri, New Jalpaiguri and Barsoi. 

Masks are being distributed among the school children free of cost. All necessary supports are being provided by railway authorities in this regard, the release said. 

During the campaign, moderators from the team JICA explain to participant students about good habits, the benefits of growing habits, hand washing, nail hygiene, saving water, mask wearing, keeping physical distance, it informed. 

In the 45 minutes to 1 hour Awareness Session, animation film on correct washing is also being shown while students take part in an interactive session afterwards, it said. 

JICA launched the 'Good Habit Campaign' in India earlier this year with the aim to raise awareness among 10 crore people specially children in India, about the importance of hygiene practices for preventing the spread of COVID -19 and other infectious diseases, it added.
