Kohima: In its fight against crime and criminals the Nagaland Police registered 131 criminal cases in various Police stations and 139 criminals involved in various crimes were arrested in connection with those cases during August 2005.
Out of the 139, 3 were extortionists and 136 were for involving in other crimes. 1 (one) 9mm country made pistol, 1 (one) .22 rifle, 1 (one) air gun, 1 (one) 2 inch mortar shell, 1 (one) electronic detonator, 200 grams of gun powder and 20 (twenty) rounds of various types of live ammunitions were recovered and seized by police.
In its drive against automobile thefts Police recovered 1 (one) Maruti Van, 2 (two) Motor Bikes, 6 (six) Autorikshaws, 1 (one) Ambassador Car and 1 (one) Gypsy during the period. Cash recovered by the Police during the period is Rs. 66,050/- (sixty-six thousand and fifty) and 2 (two) mobile handset were also recovered and seized.
As many as 45 ILP defaulters were detected and deported from the state during the month.
Under NDPS/NLTP/DC Act, Police registered 47 cases and 81 persons were arrested during the month, seizure made by the Police under this act are 665 Kgs contraband ganja, 2919 bottle IMLF, 300 ltrs Local brew, 80 ltrs Roxy, 58 grams Brown sugar and 11,154 nos. of various types of abused medical drugs.
