The 14th Piphema Rüpfhünuo Teisozha-cum-felicitation of achievers in different fields took place at Piphema Local Ground under Chümoukedima district on January 15. Piphema has three villages-Piphema Old, Piphema New and Piphema A.

This the biggest gathering, where all the generation of the Piphema comes together for a population census and also felicitation of achievers in various educational institutes, including theological studies and sports perons, said organizing committee convenor Zhato Kimho.

The occasion is also marked with acknowledging the village people working in different fields and serving as officials of various organizations outside Piphema, he said. In olden times, the day use to be observed every three years but now it is observed every five years, he said.

Altogether 74 people were felicitated for their achievements in various educational fields and eight in sports.

Exhorting the gathering, Head GB of Piphema Bawe, Kehiezakie Keyho said that the population and household of Piphema in general has increased to a great extent. He also expressed happiness that the people of the area are also excelling in the educational fields. He advised the students and youngsters to make harder efforts to get into government services through competitive exams instead of approaching the politicians for backdoor appointments.

Observing that greed is a major factor that brings disunity among the villagers, he challenged the villagers to overcome such culture and live according to Christian principle. Appealing that they should not indulge in anti-social activities and consumption of any form of intoxicants, the Head GB called upon them to live in unity and peace.

Further, Keyho urged all government employees and leaders of the village to be honest, sincere and dedicated in their work.

Chaired by Piphema Khenu Krüta Krotho (PKKK) secretary Diezelhouto Nakhro, the programme commenced with prayer by CCRCC executive secretary Vikedozo Kimho while welcome address was delivered by convenor planning committee Zhato Kimho. Elderly blessing was pronounced by Chairman Village Council Piphema Bawe, Vineisolie Kehie and greeting was extended by PKKK president Pelezetuo Kuotsu.

Statistical report was given by Piphema Students’ Union while co-convenor planning committee Seyieneilhou Keyho tendered the vote of thanks. Pastor of Piphema ‘A’ Baptist Church Pezanguliue Keyho offered the thanksgiving prayer. Special song was presented by Piphema Christian Khriesarü-ü Krotho and folk song by Piphema Cultural Troupe. The programme concluded with community feast.
