ACI Mao teachers trained on research methodology

DIMAPUR, MARCH 1 (MExN): A two day teachers’ workshop on ‘Research Methodology’ was organized by the Research Cell of the Asufu Christian Institute (ACI), Mao at the College auditorium on February 28 and 29. 

 


The program was attended by 34 teaching and non teaching staff of the college.  Resource persons from Nagaland University and Dhanamanjuri (DM) University, Imphal took the sessions. The workshop was an initiative of the college’s research cell to sensitize and induce an aptitude for research, so as to let the staff participate in community development and in the development of students’ career. 

 


Dr. Murathoti Rajendra Nath Babu, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Teacher Education, Nagaland University, took the sessions on the first day. He covered topics on ‘Philosophical foundations for Research Methodology’ and ‘Qualitative Method’.  Dr. Babu also briefed the participants on various funding agencies as well as on strategies required to publish books and articles in various journals and publishers. 

 


On the second day, sessions were held by Dr. Rabikanta Singh, Associate Professor, Department of Anthropology; Dr. Arundhati Devi Maibam, Associate Professor, Department of Anthropology; and Dr. Lorho Mary Maheo, Associate Professor, Department of Anthropology, all from DM University, Imphal. Topics on ‘Quantitative Method and Applications of Methodology’ and ‘Research Writing and Ethics’ were touched upon along with activities on the topics.   

 


The workshop used a combination of presentations and activity-based learning sessions to help participants enhance their research skills and better their chances of getting papers and articles published in various journals. The participants in the workshop were also coached on how to carry out valuable and credible research in academic field as well as in community development projects.
