COVID-19 cases in Nagaland continued its downhill trend on Tuesday as 90 single-day recoveries were reported against 39 new infections.
As per the daily health bulletin issued by the state Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP), Kohima reported 14 new cases, Dimapur reported 13, Tuensang (6), Mokokchung (2), Peren (2), while Mon and Wokha reported 1 new case each.
Tuesday’s 39 cases were out of 611 samples tested on February 15, denoting a sample positivity rate of 6.38 percent, the bulletin informed. With this, the total COVID-19 caseload in the State increased to 35,274, out of which 382 were active cases.
At least 34 of the new cases were detected through self tests and random testing while two each were detected among returnees or travellers and armed forces/security personnel, and 1 from frontline works.
Meanwhile, a total of 90 patients also recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours with Dimapur leading the tally of single-day recoveries with 38, followed by 37 in Kohima, 5 each in Longleng and Tuensang, 4 in Mokokchung, and 1 in Zunheboto.
Since February 2, recoveries outnumbered fresh cases in the State and total recoveries from the virus stood at 32,665 on Tuesday.
However, the COVID-19 death toll saw an increase with one patient in Dimapur succumbing to the virus.
Accordingly, the total COVID-19 deaths in Nagaland as of 6:00 pm on February 15 stood at 749.
The health bulletin also informed that over the course of the pandemic, four more patients with COVID-19 positivity also died, but they were designated as “Non Covid Deaths.”
The IDSP bulletin informed that out of 382 active cases, one patient was in the intensive care unit on ventilator; one was in ICU without ventilator; and 5 patients with moderate symptoms were on oxygen support.
A total of 108 patients had mild symptoms while 267 were asymptomatic.
As on Tuesday, Longleng, Kiphire and Zunheboto districts had zero active cases.
It must be noted here that data reporting for the new districts are covered under former districts as there are no separate surveillance units yet for the new districts.
