ZRSU asks Dept to appoint 21 teachers within 15 days
Zunheboto, September 14 (MExN): The Zunheboto Range Students’ Union has submitted a representation to the Department of Higher and Technical Education seeking immediate appointment of 21 teachers in the Zunheboto Government College (ZGC) within 15 days.
The representation was submitted through the Zunheboto Deputy Commissioner on September 13, informed a press release from ZRSU President Gihuka K Zhimo on Wednesday.
According to the release, the ZGC which is the only college in the District has been catering to the needs of the students; however, due to the lack of development and acute shortage of teachers, the students and teachers of the College have been facing untold hardships for many years.
“The college has been functioning without the required strength of teachers which is hindering the teaching- learning process and the smooth functioning of the college to a large extent. Adding to the shortage of teachers, no appointment had been made in place of the teachers who were transferred, promoted and demised,” it added.
Stating that the academic career of students is being jeopardized due to the negligence of the department in appointing sufficient teachers in the college, the ZRSU appealed the Department to appoint the required number of teachers in all the Departments at ZGC.
Meanwhile, in pursuant to the consultative meeting between the ZRSU and ZGC Students’ Council on August 8, 2022, the Union appealed to the concerned authority to fulfill its demand within 15 days of submitting the representation, failing which, “the Union shall take its own course of action and the Department shall be held solely responsible for any untoward incident,” the release stated.
