The All Commercial Vehicle Association (ACVA), Wokha District celebrated its 12th Foundation Day at VDB Hall, Wokha on May 17 with Zurenthung Humtsoe, Associate Pastor, WTBC, gracing the programme as the Guest Speaker.
In his address, Zurenthung Humtsoe encouraged members to remain united and committed towards the welfare of the association while underscoring the importance of discipline, cooperation and collective responsibility in strengthening the organisation. He also highlighted the significant role played by commercial vehicle drivers in serving the community, noting that their services are essential in facilitating travel and assisting people, particularly during emergencies and times of need. Encouraging members to value their profession, he urged them not to underestimate their work, stating that drivers make meaningful contributions to society and should take pride in the services they provide.
Earlier, ACVA president Yanyithung Lotha delivered the welcome address, while founding member Renbomo Humtsoe highlighted the formation of the association.
According to the association, ACVA Wokha District was officially formed on May 17, 2014, following a consultative meeting held on April 23, 2014 at the All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA) Office, Wokha Unit. Representatives from various commercial vehicle unions, including taxi, truck, mini truck, tata mobile, bus and auto unions, along with officials from the Wokha District Chamber of Commerce and Industries, resolved to establish an apex body to address the common interests and welfare of commercial vehicle operators in the district.
The programme was chaired by Yanpothung Lotha, Organising Secretary, ACVA, while invocation prayer was offered by E. Chibemo Yanthan, Auditor General, ANTA Wokha Unit. A special number was presented by Mhayilo Jami.
Following the formal programme, a general meeting of ACVA Wokha District was held under the chairmanship of ACVA president Yanyithung Lotha, where various agenda items were deliberated and resolutions adopted.
Under Agenda 1, the house unanimously resolved to extend full support to the movements of the Lotha Youth Hoho (LYH), particularly the ongoing “Drug-Free Wokha” campaign.
Under Agenda 2, T. Renbemo Kikon, Finance Secretary, ACVA Wokha District, presented the financial status and report for the year 2026–2027, while Agenda 3 focused on the reaffirmation of earlier resolutions, wherein the house reaffirmed resolutions adopted on May 29, 2018 regarding non-local owners operating commercial vehicles under the jurisdiction of ACVA Wokha District.
Under Agenda 4, the matter concerning the introduction of local taxis by ANTA Wokha Unit, as tabled by the Wokha District Auto Union (WDAU), was discussed. The house assured the WDAU of full cooperation and support towards safeguarding the welfare and interests of the association and its members.
Under Agenda 5, the house strongly reaffirmed its stand on the principle of “One Government, One Tax”. Meanwhile, under Agenda 6, the house appointed Simon Ezung as Joint Secretary of ACVA Wokha District.
