Kohima, January 20 (MExN): The second day of Angami Catholic Youth Association (ACYA) 31st Convention held at Mary Help of Christians Cathedral in Kohima saw cultural programme and exhortation from three key speakers on January 20.
Rovilato Nicholas (IAS), Richard Belho, and Kezhasezo Kenneth spoke on the topics, ‘Prospects in Civil Services’, ‘Enhancing Livelihood through Development’, and ‘Teaching as a Career Option’ respectively.
Rovilato spoke about the various aspects and responsibilities as an administrative officer. He highlighted the different steps and designations when a person clears NCS, NPSC, UPSC and competitive exams, informed a press release received here. He drew on his own experiences as an administrative officer citing examples of incidents such as tribunal clashes, factional clashes, etc to explain and emphasize the responsibilities an administrative officer has to shoulder and face in his day to day life in order to maintain law and order. “An administration officer has the most difficult job, the most tested but most satisfying profession,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Richard Belho pointed out the number of graduates, post graduates and unemployed people is increasing. Therefore, he challenged the youths to think beyond the government jobs, dream bigger and take risks. “Productive skills are ingrained in the DNAs of Nagas but most of the time, we tend to take the shortcut route,” he maintained. Richard called upon the youths to open their minds and change their outlook and think innovatively. “We need a change of heart, look to God and give an extra time to pick up a new skill.”
Kezhasezo Kenneth in his speech said amid the ever growing development and innovations in the society that has given rise to thousands of new professions and streams, teaching is a profession that will keep on going and continue to flourish. “Sharpen your skill and ability, then even the most simplest position will enable and drive you towards greater opportunities,’’ he said. He urged the youth to take up teaching to enhance the prevailing society and lives and create a more supportive, richer, and meaningful society.
The cultural programme comprised of folk song and debate competitions, skit and song presentations from the four regions, namely Southern, Western, Northern and Kohima Town Angami regions.
New office bearers of ACYA for the next term were also nominated.
