Adhoc teachers demand faster file processing

Dimapur, August 7  (MExN): A teachers’ union, All Nagaland Adhoc Teachers’ Union (ANATU), today demanded that the Education department to complete the process for regularization of teachers within the timeframe stipulated by the union in an ultimatum earlier. Related to the matter, the union has also called for an emergency meeting on August 9 at Hotel Nagi in Dimapur. All presidents’ of the units are requested to attend the meeting without fail.
A press release from the ANATU today said the “authority in charge” have not finalized the regularization works on ad-hoc teachers who appeared for a suitability test during September-October 2010,  in spite of repeated appeals. The union said it was expecting the regularization order after ministerial staffers were regularized on November 1, 2010.
However, it was not to be for the ad-hoc teachers, the union said. The union has demanded clarification why the department could treat the ad-hoc teachers in such a way.
The union appeals to the state government to intervene and “take the right decision.” Saying “we are teachers, not extremists,” the union said it would resort to own action after the ultimatum to the department expires.
