
Dimapur, March 22 (MExN): CHILDLINE Dimapur observed World Water Day with the women, children and staff of Women Short Stay Home, Prodigals’ Home and Wondang Ki charitable foundation on March 22 at Women Short Stay Home here to create awareness about the importance of water.
The resource persons were Azhupeo Kape and Gracy Rolnu, both class 12 students from Greenwood Higher Secondary School and Christian Higher Secondary School Dimapur respectively. The two had represented the State at the national level training on Sustainable Development Goal in Delhi.
Azhupeo stressed on the importance of conserving water not only for ourselves but also for the future generation. He mentioned that 663 million people in the world are living without safe water. Encouraging the participants to educate others about the importance of water, he also emphasized on the need to adopt rain water harvesting and water recycling for sanitation and gardening.
Gracy Rolnu shared on the presentation of Water 2070 by Lt. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. Conservation of water, she stressed, has to start now and today. She led the participants in taking The Water Pledge which read, “I take an oath to conserve water and to use water wisely. I pledge to consume water judiciously and not to waste even a drop of water. I will treat water as the most precious treasure that I possess and consume it accordingly. I pledge to motivate my family, friends and neighbours to use water wisely and not waste it. It is our planet and only we can save it.”
The programme concluded with a short presentation about CHILDLINE, a project under the Ministry of Women and Child Development by Amanwange Newmai, CHILDLINE team member.
