Advisor to Chief Minister Dr Murry responds to NTC

KOHIMA, NOVEMBER 25 (MExN): Advisor to Chief Minister, Dr Chumben Murry has issued a rejoinder to the Nagaland Tribes Council’s press statement alleging of a hidden agenda of the state government for setting up an apex body of Nagaland.  Dr Murry, in the rejoinder, pointed out that ‘the initiative to form apex body was a solo venture from my side’ without the involvement of the state government as was alleged. He maintained that the initiative stemmed from the need of an apex body for consultative process for common wisdom when confronted with issues common to Nagas of Nagaland.  He said Naga Hoho which was formed in 1995 at Wokha was meant to be an apex body of Nagas of Nagaland. However, with passage of time it ramified to include Nagas outside Nagaland and Nagas of Nagaland were then left with no apex body. Dr Murry hoped that NTC will have the good sense to rethink and come together with the other organizations to form an apex body for the benefit of posterity. ‘Let us not begat our fragmentation’ to posterity, he added.
