The commissioning prayer service for Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBBC) Choir Aeterna (eternal) took place at City Church, Kohima on November 12.

Rev Kedo Peseyie, Pastor of City Church, led the commissioning prayer service.

Aeterna Choir will represent NBCC at the Asia Pacific Baptist Federation 50th Anniversary in Singapore from November 17-18.

A total of 18 members, led by its founder James Swu, will sing in all seven services during the two-day celebration. Aeterna and the Mizoram Baptist Choir will be the only two choirs representing India, as per a press release.

Founder Swu mentioned that he started the Choir in early 2021 and has been participating in various events since then.

The choir's main objective is to promote church choral music and traditional music fused with choral elements, he stated.
The word "Aeterna" is derived from a Latin term translating to eternal, added Swu.

He also expressed gratitude to City Church Kohima for opening their doors for the Choir's practice and thanked all those who provided financial support and prayers.

Earlier, the Choir presented ten songs to the congregation, and State Chaplain Rev TW Yamyap pronounced the benediction.
